The Regional Account Manager (RAM) is the outside senior sales person managing all aspects of the business with a strategic customer.  The RAM is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic account plan to drive maximum revenue, account penetration and customer satisfaction.  This is achieved by establishing, leading and working closely with the customer focus team, including Account Managers, Field Engineers, Customer Service, and Operations.  The RAM establishes executive level customer relationships, develops and owns the overall account strategy, oversees and maintains the “big picture” and leads the outside sales teams in understanding and executing the strategic vision. 

Tasks Summary & Responsibilities:

  • Protect current market share and identify key projects and opportunities to grow
  • Create opportunities for TE to expand into adjacent technologies and applications
  • Define and clearly articulate account strategy to senior leadership
  • Lead and develop team of 5-6 account managers & resident engineers responsible for new business development, customer relationship management and project launch support
  • Develop strong customer relationships with regular interaction ensuring expectations/requirements are being met and issues are resolved quickly
  • Negotiate and implement contractual agreements

7-10 years of experience in sales or sales leadership roles with increases in scope, responsibilities, and results

  • Previous experience with automotive/ transportation grade terminals, connectors, sensors and cable assemblies preferred
  • Previous experience in engineering/ design preferred
  • Experience leading, motivating, and developing talent for future leadership roles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to build strong, credible relationships with multiple organization functions (internal & external)
  • Strong business and financial acumen and the ability to work to deadlines and challenging targets
  • Familiarity with SalesForce.com software for management of sales pipeline and reporting
  • Ability & willingness to travel regionally & internationally (10%)

Educational requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Business required.  MBA preferred
