Role Summary

The Audi Sport brand has officially been launched as a global sub-brand of Audi and serves as the halo vehicle line in the portfolio representing the ultimate in luxury performance.  The five pillars of the Audi Sport brand are corporate motorsport, customer racing, the R/RS portfolio, Audi Sport collection and performance parts.  Additionally the Audi exclusive product, also produced by quattro GmbH, is included as a key component of the brand.  The Audi Sport manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the Audi Sport brand from sales analysis and planning to network development for Audi Sport dealers, the R/RS portfolio planning, operational functions, marketing and ultimately increasing brand prestige, consideration, customer loyalty and/or drive dealer traffic. 

Responsibilities:

Role Responsibilities   Strategic Work – 30% of time
  • Develop overall short and long term strategic business plans that adhere to overall Brand objectives for each functional area: Audi Sport brand management, R/RS product portfolio, Audi exclusive, Audi Sport customer racing
  • Create and maintain a strategic brand plan for the Audi Sport brand, updating annually to reflect sales trends, product availability and market analysis in the US
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight of all Audi Sport communications and activities in concert with the global positioning as well as market-based marketing functions at AoA.
  • Analyze and evaluate the ROI models for effectiveness of operational, product and marketing initiatives and develop recommendations for future implementation to be presented to executive management team.
  • Research and develop new strategies and areas of execution for Audi Sport opportunities.
  • Directly manage internal stakeholder relationships and coordinate integration of internal departmental objectives.
  • Direct interface, interaction and collaboration with senior management within AoA and Audi AG. Supportive role  to the General Manager in all critical planning and strategy development with AoA senior managers together with Audi AG and quattro GmbH.
  • Coordinate with the sales/operations team to ensure allocation is appropriately assigned and considered for Audi Sport designated dealerships
Motorsport Work – 10% of time
  • Provide input on overall motorsport strategy in support of Audi Sport global goals.  Work directly with Manager, Audi Sport customer racing on relevant strategy decisions to operationalize the customer racing business in North America.
  • Negotiate Manufacturers partnership agreements with all Professional and Club Level Motorsport Sanctioning organizations in the US market on behalf of Audi of America.
  • Actively coordinate and provide strategic input on all commitments made as a result of OEM partnership agreements, i.e. media campaigns, win advertisements, PR, and hospitality  
  • Support and provide leadership in the development of any racing contingency programs, sales and marketing of race cars to end customers, privateer racing support, including vehicle development, parts sourcing and livery creative rules. 
  • Manage all contracted AoA professional drivers and ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations.
  • Manage all sponsorship relations and contract negotiations for motorsport programs.
Supervisory Work - 10% of time   
  • Lead and manage team of direct reports to deliver sales and operational excellence in the Audi Sport sub-brand to include, but not be limited to, the Audi exclusive manager and Audi Sport customer racing manager.
  • Ensure consumer/dealer /motorsport communications and brand experiences are designed to drive business objectives, enhance brand image and showcase performance products in the most creative light possible.  Leverage joint co-operative branding opportunities and creatively integrate the Audi Sport brand into brand advertising creative content initiatives when strategically relevant.
  • Generate monthly summary report and comprehensive quarterly and annual Audi Sport brand report for presentation to executive management team, as well as to Audi quattro GmbH and Audi AG.
 Operational Work – 50% of time
  • Explore methods for increasing sales, maintain all sales analysis and metrics as well as responsibility for budget, additional funding and use of allocated funds for increasing awareness and sales for the brand.
  • Manage all area communications with stakeholders that including but not limited to: Human Resources, Parts, Product, Marketing, Sales/Ops and Regions.
  • Support PR team on all media related functions to support the Audi Sport brand and its pillars.
  • Coordinate crisis communication action plans for the Audi Sport brand.
  • Working with AoA Network Development team, maintain a current list of all Audi Sport designated dealerships
  • Ensure that designation requirements are upheld and that all relevant co-op funding is accounted for and received from Audi AG
  • Serve as the central resource for all dealer partners to answer questions, concerns or inquiries into Audi Sport designation
  • Provide updated materials to the AoA Network Development team, as well as work with the network team in Audi AG to ensure global standards are met and reviewed at appropriate intervals, serving as an advocate for US-specific initiatives or requests as needed
  • Ensure that all communications are in compliance with brand guidelines and are in accordance with corporate identity standards
  • Partner with quattro GmbH marketing department, coordinating on events and communications which are jointly sponsored/executed by the German headquarters
  • Maintain an awareness of changing market trends, consumer attitudes and opinions, adapting this knowledge into the planning and objective development of the Audi Sport brand
  • Oversee the vendor selection/bid process for all related agency partners and vendors
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all Audi Sport marketing, communicating effectively and interacting with the executive team, fellow employees, the field organization, the national dealer body and the consumer public
  • Manage overall budget development and planning for all Audi Sport and motorsport, 8+ million operational budget.
  • With Product Launch Manager, oversee and create strategy, planning, and execution of Audi Sport-relevant product launch activations
  • Collaborate and lead direction with marketing, PR, social media and product to ensure reach of all Audi Sport-related campaigns.
  • Manage all finance and purchasing processes to ensure compliance and timeliness as well as cost efficiency.
  • Create programs that deliver results (sales leads, prospects, test drives, dealer visits, etc.) and properly represent the Audi Sport sub-brand at all touch points.
  • Internal Coordination and Communication – Work with Audi departments/employees to create transparency and ensure integration and communication with all parties regarding Audi Sport initiatives. 
  • Manage interactions and foster cross-functional relationships with colleagues in Audi PR/Communications, After Sales, Product, Sales and Operations, Call Center/Audi Talk, Legal, Marketing and AUDI AG on all Audi Sport related topics
