Orlando, FL – More than 400 professionals from across the country attended the second annual Women in Automotive Conference, held in late June at the Omni Resort in ChampionsGate, FL, located just outside of Orlando. Attendance jumped an impressive 33 percent from the conference’s inaugural event in 2015.
“Last year’s Women in Automotive event was phenomenal, but this one far surpassed it,” said Christy Roman, founder of Women in Automotive. “The positive feedback we’ve received from both attendees and sponsors has been extremely gratifying.”
Because women comprise less than 20% of all employees at auto dealerships, the purpose of the event was to assist the automotive community in recruiting and retaining female employees and leaders – and cultivating the unique talents they bring to the table. The three-day conference included speakers, breakout sessions, workshops and vendor booths. Four focus tracks were available to attendees: Dealership Strategies & Tactics, Trends for Women: Selling, Marketing and Employment, Personal Development and Leadership.
Keynote speakers included Erich K. Gail, CEO for the Cardinale Group of Companies; Dr. Bill Huffaker, Global Director of Talent Acquisition of General Motors; and Dr. Suzanne Mendoza Feeney, Senior Manager of Customer Communications and Strategy for Hyundai Motors America.
Many of the auto industry’s top companies took part as sponsors for the event, including Ally, Asbury Automotive, AutoLoop, cars.com, Deloitte, General Motors, Hireology, Hyundai, L2T Media, NextUp, TrueCar and Wells Fargo.
Dates for next year have already been announced, July 9 – 11 at the Omni ChampionsGate.
The Women in Automotive Conference was founded by Christy Roman, President of NOW Digital alongside Board Members Joni Stuker, President of Owner Connect; Jody DeVere, CEO of AskPatty.com; Kathy Gilbert, Director of Sales & Business Development of CDK Global; and Subi Ghosh, Executive Vice President of Dealer Authority, in partnership with JKR Automotive Advertising out of Orlando. Its mission is to assist the automotive community on recruiting, retaining, and developing female employees and leaders.
